18 May 2016 Evaluate

Buoyed by the excellent response to its forward e-auction in April, Coal India (CIL) is planning to sell 120 million tonnes coal this year to power and non-power entities that do not have fuel supply commitment.

A bulk of this supply would go to the power sector where around 30,000 mw of plants do not have any coal supply agreement from CIL. These include power producers that have lost coal blocks and the ones whose supply contracts with Coal India expire in July.

Coal India is the world’s largest coal mining company. It also produces non-coking coal and coking coal of various grades for diverse applications.
