Illegal mining extends to Bihar; CM orders inquiry

Following the footsteps of Karnataka and Goa in illegal mining, Bihar is the new addition to the list. The state chief minister Nitish Kumar has ordered Economic offences wing to probe the mining from Nawada district in the state.

The decision hold the inquiry comes in the backdrop of allegation by ruling JD(U) MLA Pradeep Kumar that mica worth crores of rupees from Bhankhap mines were illegally brought out by local musclemen in connivance with state mines department officials.

Recently, state chief minister had said that government needs cooperation of everybody to confront the mining mafia and protect natural resources.
