Telangana issue jolts Lok Sabha; adjourned till April 24

The continuous uproar in the lower assembly for the separate state of Telangana paralyzed proceedings today. The house was adjourned twice in the morning and once after lunch, due to the din created by the Congress, the TRS and the TDP from the Telangana region of AP seeking Telangana State.

Besides Telangana, the house was also slated to discuss Sethusamudram Ship Canal Project and the Cauvery river water dispute. Today was the last day of first part of the Budget Session and the second part will began on April 24, 2012; the Lok Sabha is adjourned till then.

Rajya Sabha witnessed similar protests with Congress and BJP MLAs accusing the government for dragging its feet over the Telangana issue. According to BJP MLA Prakash Javadekar, so far 609 persons had committed suicide on the issue. The Rajya Sabha was adjourned twice, first for 15 minutes and then till noon.
