National Aluminium Company (NALCO), India's third-largest producer of aluminium, has cut aluminium prices by Rs 4,500 a tonne. Last week the company had cut the domestic aluminium prices by Rs 6,500 a tonne.
The changes in London Metal Exchange (LME) rates were the basis for both the moves of NALCO. With the most recent move, the prices of standard aluminium ingots stand trimmed at 141,200 rupees per tonne.
Recently, NALCO achieved its highest-ever metal production of 443,597 tonnes in 2010-11, against a previous best of 431,488 tonnes in 2009-10 and metal sales of 438,952 tonnes, against a previous best of 435,979 tonnes in 2009-10. The increasing demand and improvement in company's share in the domestic market is the reason behind the excellent record.
