Now it’s the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalitha who has joined the state CMs who are against formation of National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC). Jayalalitha has written to the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh urging to hold over the formation of NCTC and convene a meeting exclusively to discuss the issue.

Jayalalitha, in her letter, has emphasized on the views of various chief Ministers to be given due consideration and purposeful discussion on counter terrorism should be made possible by convening the meeting. NCTC was slated to come into force effective March 01, 2012, however, lack of integrity amongst the CM has pushed its constitution into trouble.

After setting up National Investigation Agency, Home Minister P Chidambaram has decided to set up NCTC to avert 26/11 type attacks. NCTC will be regulated by the director of the rank of Additional Director General with three units - gathering intelligence, analysis of intelligence and carrying out operations - and each of this division would be headed by a joint director of Intelligence Bureau.
