Asian equity indices continued to trade on a mixed note in Friday’s morning trade, when many markets were closed for the Easter holiday, as investors remained on the sidelines ahead of key US jobs data. Moreover, concern over Spain’s rising bond yields were offset to some extent, however, by fresh US data on Thursday that provided more evidence of a recovering labour market, raising the prospect for the non-farm payrolls report due later on Friday to be solid. The stock markets in Hong Kong, Indonesia and Singapore remained shut on the account of Easter.
Shanghai Composite was down marginally by 0.06 points, Nikkei 225 was down 93.25 points or 0.95% to 9,674.36 and Seoul Composite was down by 5.20 points or 0.26% to 2,023.57.
On the flip side, KLSE Composite was up 6.29 points or 0.39% to 1,599.73 and Taiwan Weighted was up by 40.07 points or 0.52% to 7,679.89.
