Reliance Industries’ (RIL) telecom arm - Reliance Jio Infocomm (RJIL) has reportedly signed a lease for signal emitting sites or base stations (BTS), with tower companies such as Indus Towers, American Tower Corp. and GTL Infrastructure to plug gaps in its networks, which are likely to be key to its plans for a commercial launch expected in the coming months.
The agreement is for 14,000 towers with Indus, 5,000 with ATC and 6,000 with GTL. On the Indus network the Mukesh Ambani’s company has got 1 per cent discount on towers where it is second tenant.
