Tata Steel eyes 11.3 mt of crude steel production in FY17: Report

Tata Steel is reportedly planning to produce 11.3 million tonnes of crude steel this financial year, a million tonnes more than its output last year. Ramping up at the company’s newest steel plant at Kalinganagar in Odisha is faster than expected.

While the steel maker has committed to production of 1 mt at the 3 mt plant commissioned this May, actual output could be 50% more. Moreover, the company is expecting to produce 9.8 mt of crude steel from its 10 mt plant at Jamshedpur.

Tata Steel, the flagship company of the Tata group is the first integrated steel plant in Asia and is now the world’s second most geographically diversified steel producer and a Fortune 500 Company.
