Sun Pharma slips on recalling 31,762 bottles of anti-depressant drug in US

Sun Pharmaceutical Industries is currently trading at Rs. 744.20, down by 10.15 points or 1.35% from its previous closing of Rs. 754.35 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs. 755.00 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 755.00 and Rs. 744.00 respectively. So far 23,000 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs. 1 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 915.00 on 12-Oct-2015 and a 52 week low of Rs. 706.40 on 24-Nov-2015.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 769.00 and Rs. 744.00 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 1,79,178.00 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 54.97%, while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 34.96% and 10.07% respectively.

Sun Pharmaceutical Industries is recalling 31,762 bottles of bupropion hydrochloride extended- release tablets used for treatment of major depressive disorder in the United States due to failed dissolution specifications. The recall has been initiated for 31,762 bottles of bupropion hydrochloride extended-release tablets, USP (SR) in the strength of 150 mg.

This was a ‘Class III’ recall, initiated voluntarily by the company. Such a recall is initiated where use of or exposure to a violative product is not likely to cause adverse health consequences. The tablets were made by the company at its Halol (Gujarat) unit, already under an FDA scanner.
