IOC launches Mobile Rural Healthcare service in Uttar Pradesh

Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), India’s flagship petroleum company has launched Mobile Healthcare Scheme, a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative of the company in Uttar Pradesh. This scheme is designed to provide primary healthcare to underprivileged people in select rural areas through mobile medical units (MMU).

As a part of the service, the 12 MMUs will provide free consultation and medicines to the needy in 141 villages in the three districts of Kushinagar, Mau and Maharjganj. Each MMU will comprise of a qualified Doctor, a pharmacist, a community mobilizer and a driver. The MMUs will be linked to the company’s Kisan Seva Kendras (small format petrol/diesel stations).

In one year, the MMUs are expected to cover a targeted population of over 3.5 lakh people. Gradually, this service is envisaged to be expanded to cover other parts of the country.

Besides, this programme will also be a platform to create awareness on various issues like Health, Hygiene, Family Planning and HIV/AIDs. For this initiative, IOC has chosen Wockhardt Foundation as the implementing partner.
