Emami to set up cement plant in Andhra Pradesh, Rajasthan

Emami is planning to set up cement units in Andhra Pradesh and Rajasthan. In its medium term goals, the company wants build a cement production capacity of 15-20 million tonnes over the next 3-5 years. Emami Cement, which began operations at its integrated cement manufacturing plant in Chattisgarh in July this year, is expecting to clock revenues of around Rs 500 crore for a full year of operations ending March 2017. The Chattisgarh plant, with a capacity of around 5.5 MTPA, was set up in addition to two separate grinding plants that are to come up in West Bengal and Odisha at a total cost of Rs 3500 crore. The company, which also has a limestone mine in Andhra Pradesh, plans to set up a plant in that state with a capacity of 2 MTPA at a cost of Rs 1,500 crore. The plant in Rajasthan, where it also has a mine, would come up with a capacity of 6 MTPA entailing a cost of another Rs 3,500 crore.

Emami manufactures products under various categories namely Hair Care, Skin Creams and Lotions, Talcum Powder and ayurvedic health care products. The company has reported 34.59% fall in its consolidated net profit after tax, minority interest and share of profit of associates at Rs 56.65 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2016 as compared to Rs 86.61 crore for the same quarter in the previous year.
