Bharti Airtel, one of India's largest telecommunications services providers, is reportedly in talks with KKR and Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPPIB) to sell a significant stake in its listed tower arm Bharti Infratel. The stake sale would give Bharti Airtel more financial headroom to combat deep pocket rivals. The company is looking to divest up to 40% stake to a consortium of financial investors making them the single largest shareholder block. The stake sale expected at around $4 billion based on current market value. Bharti Airtel currently owns 71.96% stake in Bharti Infratel, while the rest is held by public shareholders.
Bharti Airtel is a leading integrated telecommunications company with operations in 20 countries across Asia and Africa. The company ranks amongst the top 5 mobile service providers globally in terms of subscribers.
