To facilitate increase procurement of wheat in Madhya Pradesh, the Centre has geared up its arms to provide all necessary assistance to the state. Besides, efforts will be made to provide more gunny bags and speedy movements of food grains from the states.
This assurance was given by the Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Minister K V Thomas to the Chief Minister of the State.
As per initial assessment of the requirement submitted by the Centre, 173,000 bags have already been provided to the states, and request for more bags by the states now will be considered. Further, request for the use of plastic bags will also be forwarded to the Textile Ministry. Regarding movements of the food grains from the states, FCI is making all efforts to speed up.
