Asian equity benchmarks are trading up in the early deals on Tuesday tracking the rally on Wall Street, as oil prices pushed higher amid hopes of an upcoming production-cut deal from the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries. Meanwhile, Japanese shares turned slightly positive as damage from an earthquake appeared moderate.
Nikkei 225 added 43.81 points or 0.24% to 18,149.83, Hang Seng rose 288.60 points or 1.29% to 22,646.38, Jakarta Composite increased 7.30 points or 0.14% to 5,155.62, FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI gained 3.58 points or 0.22% to 1,630.86, Taiwan Weighted jumped 115.87 points or 1.28% to 9,156.98, KOSPI Index surged 16.28 points or 0.83% to 1,982.33, Straits Times spurt 14.50 points or 0.51% to 2,831.17, and Shanghai Composite was up by 23.42 points or 0.73% to 3,241.57.
