SAIL’s Durgapur steel plant has reported higher output in April. Production of hot metal at 1.85 lakh tonne and saleable steel at 1.60 lakh tonne, registering a growth of 2% and 9%, respectively, against the corresponding month of 2011. The production of value-added and special steels at 1.26 lakh tonnes was up 78.5%. DSP also dispatched 1.48 lakh tonne of saleable steel, the best ever April figure so far.
SAIL manufactures and sells a wide variety of steel products such as hot and cold rolled sheets and coils, galvanised sheets, electrical sheets, structurals, railway products, plates, bars and rods, stainless steel and other alloy steels. It also produces long and flat steel products, which is in demand in the domestic as well in international market.
