In an encouraging development for the economy, India’s Consumer Price Index (CPI) for the month of January came to 3.17% as compared to 3.41% in December. The figure was lower than street’s expectation of 3.21%. CPI food inflation for January also eased substantially to 0.53% versus 1.37% in December.
