Container Corporation of India slips on reporting 10% fall in Q3 net profit

Container Corporation of India is currently trading at Rs. 1260.60, down by 44.45 points or 3.41% from its previous closing of Rs. 1305.05 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs. 1314.00 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 1314.00 and Rs. 1239.00 respectively. So far 42,000 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs. 10 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 1544.00 on 02-Aug-2016 and a 52 week low of Rs. 1055.00 on 21-Dec-2016.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 1338.60 and Rs. 1239.00 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 24,578.00 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 56.75%, while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 39.99% and 3.26% respectively.

The company has reported 9.56% fall in its net profit at Rs 185.99 crore for third quarter ended December 31, 2016 as compared to Rs 205.66 crore for the same quarter in the previous year. Total income of the company decreased by 4.81% at Rs 1414.93 crore for the quarter under review as compared Rs 1486.40 crore for the corresponding quarter previous year. 

Container Corporation of India was incorporated in March 1988 under the Companies Act, and commenced operation from November 1989 taking over the existing network of 7 ICDs from the Indian Railways. From its humble beginning, it is now an undisputed market leader having the largest network of 66 ICDs/CFSs in India.
