31 Mar 2017 Evaluate

Indian rupee strengthened against US dollar on Friday, on account of increased liquidation of the American currency by exporters and banks amid continued foreign inflows. Though, it has opened on a flat note at 64.92 against the US dollar. Further, dollar’s strength against some other currencies overseas and a lower opening in the domestic equity markets capped the rupee’s gain. On the global front, dollar edged up against some currencies overseas on Friday, after solid U.S. economic data contrasted with cooling euro zone inflation.

The partially convertible currency is currently trading at 64.81, stronger by 11 paise from its previous close of 64.92 on Thursday. The currency touched a high and low of 64.93 and 64.79 respectively. The Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) reference rate for the dollar stood at 64.93 and for Euro stood at 69.87 on March 30, 2017.
