JSW Steel’s crude production rises by 35% on y-o-y

JSW Steel, part of JSW Group, has reported the monthly crude production of 7.15 lakh tonnes for April 2012, up by 35% as compared to corresponding month last fiscal. The production has increased 10% on sequential basis.

The steel maker has reported the production of rolled products - flat at 5.25 lakh tonnes an increase by 34% on year on year basis and that of rolled long products at 1.55 lakh tonnes, an increase of 35%. The capacity utilization at Vijaynagar works remained at around 80% in the last month due to inferior quality and inadequate availability of iron-ore in e-auction.

The company for the financial year ended March 2012, reported standalone net profit at Rs 1,626 crore a dip of 19.10% from Rs 2,010 crore in the previous financial year. Total income was up 36.86% though at Rs 32,302 crore as against Rs 23,602 crore in FY11.
