Automation technology company, ABB has bagged order worth about Rs 175 crore from NTPC to build two substations in the western Indian state of Maharashtra. The substation will facilitate transmission of electricity from new power generation plants being constructed in the region.
The substations will comprise seventeen 400 kilovolt (kv) bays and fourteen 132kv bays in Solapur and twelve 400kv bays and eight 132kv bays in Mauda.
These substations will help make more power available to meet growing demand for electricity in the region and will improve the reliability and efficiency of the transmission grid. Substations are key installations in the power grid that transform voltage levels and facilitate safe and efficient transmission and distribution of electricity.
ABB is also constructing substations at NTPC’s Mauda (Maharashtra), Gandhar (Gujarat) and Nabinagar (Bihar).
