Idea Cellular gains on the buzz of plan to launch payments bank operations in June

Idea Cellular is currently trading at Rs. 87.30, up by 1.60 points or 1.87% from its previous closing of Rs. 85.70 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs. 86.00 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 88.15 and Rs. 85.95 respectively. So far 663764 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs. 10 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 128.05 on 28-Apr-2016 and a 52 week low of Rs. 66.00 on 09-Nov-2016.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 88.95 and Rs. 85.15 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 31330.30 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 42.45%, while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 31.22% and 26.33% respectively.

Idea Cellular, one of the biggest cellular carriers of the country, is reportedly planning to launch payments bank operations by the end of June 2017 and is signing up retailers who sell its telecom services to also double up as banking touch points to allow customers to carry out transactions. The company, that recently received the central bank’s final approval to open its payments bank, is in the process of integrating its systems with those of the National Payments Corporation of India and the RBI.

Idea Cellular, an AV Birla group company, provides Global System for Mobile communications (GSM)-based wireless service at the pan-India level, it is present in all 22 telecom circles.
