Coal India moves up on reporting 6% growth in overall despatch of coal in April

Coal India is currently trading at Rs. 268.75, up by 0.40 points or 0.15% from its previous closing of Rs. 268.35 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs. 268.00 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 269.55 and Rs. 267.70 respectively. So far 72483 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs. 10 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 349.85 on 17-Aug-2016 and a 52 week low of Rs. 261.00 on 24-May-2017.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 278.15 and Rs. 261.00 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 166824.12 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 78.86%, while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 18.13% and 3.01% respectively.

Coal India (CIL) has reported 6% growth in its overall despatch of coal to 45.3 million tonnes in April 2017 as compared to 42.7 mt despatched during April 2016. The supply at par is at a time when demand of coal by the power sector has picked up on the back of economy doing well. A series of measures have been taken by CIL to make more coal available through the special forward e-auction scheme.

Coal India is the world's largest coal mining company. It also produces non-coking coal and coking coal of various grades for diverse applications.
