HDFC gains on buying 15% stake in Tanzania's First Housing Finance co

Housing Development Finance Corporation (HDFC) is currently trading at Rs. 1603.40, up by 20.80 points or 1.31 % from its previous closing of Rs. 1582.60 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs. 1582.75 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 1603.40 and Rs. 1582.75 respectively. So far 11180 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs. 2 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 1605.00 on 30-May-2017 and a 52 week low of Rs. 1183.00 on 16-Jun-2016.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 1605.00 and Rs. 1531.55 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 253005.20 crore.

The institutions and non-institutions held 87.77% and 12.23% stake in the company, respectively.

As part of greenfield expansion outside India, HDFC has acquired a 15% stake in Tanzania's First Housing Finance for $1.5 million. The acquisition has been executed through HDFC Investments in which 32.7 million equity shares, equivalent to 15% share capital of First Housing, have been bought at a cash consideration of $1.5 million.

HDFC offers a whole gamut of products like loans to individuals, loans to corporates, construction finance, and lease rental discounting. The financial conglomerate has subsidiaries and associates in insurance (general and life), asset management, education finance, venture funds and banking services.
