Most of the Asian markets were trading in green despite a mixed closing of the US markets overnight, as oil after its slump was showing some signs of recovery. Oil stocks are also mostly higher despite crude oil extending losses overnight. Japanese equities rose even as the yen strengthened, though the major exporters are mixed on a slightly stronger yen. Chinese shares climbed for a second day after MSCI Inc.’s decision to include mainland shares in its benchmark indexes. The Australian market too has rebounded after the previous session's sell-off.
KOSPI Index gained 5.96 points or 0.25% to 2,363.49, Shanghai Composite was up by 23.89 points or 0.76% to 3,180.10, Nikkei 225 added 30.14 points or 0.15% to 20,168.93, Taiwan Weighted increased 43.47 points or 0.42% to 10,393.19, Hang Seng was higher by 144.71 points or 0.56% to 25,839.29 and FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI was tad higher by 0.66 points or 0.04% to 1,776.23
On the other hand, Jakarta Composite was marginally in red, down by 0.99 points or 0.02% to 5,817.57.
