Idea Cellular surges on receiving CCI approval for merger with Vodafone India

Idea Cellular is currently trading at Rs. 95.85, up by 4.00 points or 4.35% from its previous closing of Rs. 91.85 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs. 95.00 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 96.90 and Rs. 93.25 respectively. So far 4,31,000 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs. 10 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 123.75 on 20-Mar-2017 and a 52 week low of Rs. 66.00 on 09-Nov-2016.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 96.90 and Rs. 87.80 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 34,564.00 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 42.39%, while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 34.68% and 22.93% respectively.

The Competition Commission of India (CCI) has approved the proposed merger between Vodafone India and Idea Cellular, a key step in clearing the way for creating India’s biggest phone company by subscribers. UK-based Vodafone Group Plc’s India unit and Idea, currently ranked at two and three, respectively, will have a combined base of nearly 400 million customers and 41 per cent revenue market share.

Idea Cellular is an AV Birla group company and provides Global System for Mobile communications (GSM)-based wireless service at the pan-India level.
