Mercator evaluates opportunities for possibility of demerger of business

14 Aug 2017

Mercator’s board has initiated a study to explore the possibility of demerger of business through restructuring of Shipping and Dredging business into separate entities which would facilitate value discovery, creation of focus entities with identified business objectives and opportunities to independently augment their growth plans. The board has constituted a Special Committee of Directors to consider the matter further.

Mercator is the second-largest private sector shipping company on a consolidated basis in India, in terms of tonnage capacity. The group has a presence in varied segments namely shipping, offshore services, oil exploration and production, dredging, coal mining/trading and logistics.
