India’s oilmeals export surged by 8.61% to 351,791 tonnes in May from 323,907 tonnes a year earlier, with strong gains in overseas sales for minor products such as rice husks and castor seed meal. In the first two months of current financial year, oilmeals export, however declined by 10.14% to 752,218 tonnes from 837,128 tonnes in April-May period of 2011-12.
Further, as per the Solvent Extractors’ Association of India, soymeal exports to sanctions-hit Iran was up sharply even though overall soymeal exports fell 19.36% to 142,588 tonnes in April from 176,819 tonnes a year ago.
India’s oilmeals export for the year ending March 31, 2012 rose 8.9% against 5.52 million tonnes recorded in previous year.
