Essar Steel commissions heat recovery power plant at Hazira

12 Jun 2012 Evaluate

Essar Steel India has set-up a 19 MW heat recovery power plant at Hazira. The plant is likely to utilize the heat generated in the manufacturing process, which is hot briquetted iron waste heat recovery boiler and surplus steam from blast furnace boilers to generate electricity. This initiative will reduce the power cost of the company.

The company is looking for facilities which are both, cost efficient and environment friendly. Its new plant is helping it to save the cost of generating 19 MW of power - enough power for almost 10,000 homes. The company will also benefit with the availability of carbon credits due to the reduction in emission of greenhouse gases. Also, it can utilize the power more effectively without any transmission losses or leakages.

Essar Steel is a fully integrated flat carbon steel manufacturer from iron ore to ready-to-market products. Its products find wide acceptance in highly discerning consumer sectors, such as automotive, white goods, construction, engineering and shipbuilding.
