India's rice exports up by 7.4% in April-August

India's rice exports during April-August, up by 7.4% from a year earlier to 5.13 million tons as shipments of non-basmati Rice surged, as per the data compiled by the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA).

Non-basmati Rice exports stood at 3.29 million tons, up by 9.4%, while premium basmati Rice exports up by 4% to 1.85 million tons. India, the world's biggest Rice exporter, mainly exports non-basmati Rice to African countries and premier basmati Rice to the Middle East.
