Coal India surges on LIC hiking stake to 9.4%

Coal India is currently trading at Rs. 288.60, up by 2.90 points or 1.02% from its previous closing of Rs. 285.70 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs. 285.10 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 288.80 and Rs. 284.75 respectively. So far 80655 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs. 10 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 337.30 on 10-Nov-2016 and a 52 week low of Rs. 234.00 on 11-Aug-2017.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 294.90 and Rs. 282.05 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 178618.20 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 78.86%, while institutions and non-institutions held 17.47% and 3.67% respectively.

Country’s largest insurer, Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) of India has hiked stake in state-owned Coal India to 9.4%. The insurer bought 2% share in the PSU through Open Market Purchase from January 1, 2015-October 31, 2017.

Coal India (CIL) is the world’s largest coal mining company. It also produces non-coking coal and coking coal of various grades for diverse applications.
