BASF India planning to expand manufacturing capacity for Cellasto at Dahej site

06 Nov 2017 Evaluate

BASF India is planning to expand its manufacturing capacity for Cellasto at its Dahej site. Cellasto is the trade name for components made of BASF cellular polyurethane elastomers and have been successfully used for over 55 years in the suspension system to reduce noise, vibration and harshness in automotive production. The expansion at Dahej will serve India's growing automotive market for both two-wheel and four-wheel vehicles. The expansion project includes a new production line and will supplement the testing equipment of Cellasto installed earlier this year.

Further, in line with the changing customer needs in the South Asian region, the company has decided to cease TPU manufacturing at Dahej. However, the company will continue supplying South Asian markets from its global network, which would ensure seamless supply to customers.

BASF India is a chemical manufacturing company. It operates in the business segments of agricultural solutions, performance products, plastics businesses and chemicals. The agricultural solutions include insecticides, herbicides, fungicides and specialties.
