Coal India moves up on eyeing to buy stakes in overseas coking coal blocks

Coal India is currently trading at Rs. 270.25, up by 0.65 points or 0.24% from its previous closing of Rs. 269.60 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs. 270.55 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 271.15 and Rs. 269.40 respectively. So far 28918 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs. 10 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 332.10 on 27-Feb-2017 and a 52 week low of Rs. 234.00 on 11-Aug-2017.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 274.75 and Rs. 262.45 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 167755.23 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 78.86%, while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 17.47% and 3.67% respectively.

Coal India is looking for potential avenues for buying stakes in coking coal blocks overseas. Last year, the board had advised the company to explore the opportunities of acquiring coal assets overseas, very few prospective blocks in foreign nations have come up for sale.

Coal India is the world’s largest coal mining company. It also produces non-coking coal and coking coal of various grades for diverse applications.
