Bharti Airtel to spend $25 million on networks in Malawi

Bharti Airtel, a leading global telecommunications company with operations in 20 countries across Asia and Africa is likely to spend $25 million for the development of 3G network and introduction of Airtel Money services in the African country of Malawi. Through Airtel Money platform, consumers can send and receive money, directly pay utility bills, provide access to their bank accounts and top up their phones with air time.

By the end of current financial year, company also plans to invest $10 million in green energy in Malawi. The telecom major has over 53.1 million customers across 17 African countries.

Bharti Airtel is a leading integrated telecommunications company with operations in 20 countries across Asia and Africa. The company ranks amongst the top 5 mobile service providers globally in terms of subscribers.
