ONGC trades higher on the bourses

Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) is currently trading at Rs. 198.00, up by 0.65 points or 0.33 % from its previous closing of Rs. 197.35 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs. 198.50 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 199.60 and Rs. 197.75 respectively. So far 119165 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs. 5 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 212.00 on 31-Jan-2017 and a 52 week low of Rs. 155.30 on 27-Jun-2017.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 200.30 and Rs. 194.80 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 254483.05 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 68.07%, while institutions and non-institutions held 18.06% and 13.87% respectively.

ONGC is all set to open a new sedimentary basin in the country as it puts Kutch offshore on the oil and gas map of India. Kutch would be India’s eighth sedimentary basin. The company has made a significant natural gas discovery in the Gulf of Kutch off the west coast, which it plans to bring to production in 2-3 years.

The company had previously opened for commercial production six out of India's seven producing basins. Cauvery was the last Category-I producing basin which was discovered in 1985.

ONGC is India’s largest government-run corporation and produces about 70% of India’s crude oil and natural gas. The corporation is the biggest public sector commercial organization in India.
