Following parent company’s initiative, Hindustan Unilever, Indian arm of Unilever, has started test marketing low-cost chlorine-based water purifying sachets in India. The company is distributing free Pureit sachets to people in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh and the sachets could be an extension of its low-cost purifier brand Pureit.
Pureit sachets need to be dipped in a jar or bottle of water and left for a while before consuming, which the company claims that it is as good as boiled water. The product expected to stir up the low-cost purifier market that has players such as Tata Swach targeting rural India.
