India’s steel production surpasses 100 MT in 2017

India’s annual steel production crossed 100 million tonne (MT) mark last year. The country’s total steel production in the year 2016 was around 95 MT.

As per Union Minister Chaudhary Birender Singh, between January 1, 2017 and December 31, the country crossed 100 MT-mark and produced 101 MT steel.

The minister added that it has to reach the 240 MT production and 300 MT capacity target by 2030-31 and the recycling industry can play a major role in meeting this goal.
