Bond yields trade lower on Tuesday

23 Jan 2018 Evaluate

Bond yields edged lower on Tuesday, as New Delhi will auction a lower-than-scheduled amount of debt at this week’s auction.

In the global market, U.S. Treasury yields rose on Monday after U.S. lawmakers reached a deal to reopen the federal government, three days into the shutdown. Furthermore, oil prices rose, lifted by healthy economic growth as well as the ongoing supply restraint by a group of exporters around OPEC and Russia.

Back home, the yields on new 10 year Government Stock were trading 2 basis points lower at 7.44% from its previous close of 7.46% on Monday.

The benchmark five-year interest rates were trading 4 basis points lower at 7.20% from its previous close of 7.24% on Monday.
