Manmohan Singh steps in FM’s shoes

After bidding farewell to the Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee, the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has taken control of Finance Ministry. Singh will be assisted by S S Palanimanickam and Namo Narain Meena, the state ministers in handling this additional portfolio. PM presently controls Ministry of Atomic Energy, Space, Planning, and Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions.

Mukherjee, who left to contest Presidential election against opponent P A Sangma, was heading13 of the 27 Group of Ministers (GoMs) and all 12 empowered GoMs (EGoMs). Singh has divided the maneuvering of this GoMs and EGoMs among chosen senior cabinet ministers.

Incumbent Prime Minister Singh is the renowned economist who not only controlled India from falling into any economic crisis but also was credited for bringing economic reforms during 1991 when he was FM. Considering the present economical scenario, nation has pinned hopes on this former RBI governor who may bring similar reforms and put the nation back on the track of growth and development.
