ONGC receives 121,207 carbon credits for 51 MW wind power project

State run, Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) has received a massive kitty of 121,207 carbon credits for its 51 megawatt (MW) wind power project located at Bhuj in Gujarat, on June 07, 2012. The company has received the credits from the United Nations body on Climate Change (UNFCCC - United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change).

This 51 MW wind power project of ONGC was registered in March 2010 for 21 years with an annual accruable CER (Certified Emission Reductions) of 85,762. This is the maiden issuance for the monitoring period from March 01, 2010 to June 30, 2011. This is the first issuance of credits from this project and second overall from the oil major’s cache of six registered environment-improvement projects.
