Import of vegetable oil (edible & non-edible) during February 2018 stood at 1,157,044 tonne, down 9%, as compared to 1,270,443 tonne shipped in February 2017. According to the data compiled by the Solvent Extractors’ Association of India (SEA), the inbound shipments include 1,124,999 tonne edible oil and 32,045 tonne non-edible oil.
The overall import of vegetable oil from November 2017 to February 2018 stood at 4,785,778 tonne, up 2% from 4,684,451 tonne recorded a year ago. During November 2017 - February 2018, import of refined oil (RBD Palmolein) stood at 607,359 tonne compared to 916,438 tonne in same period of last year.
Earlier on March 1, 2018, the government increased import duty on Crude Palm Oil, RBD Palmolein and RBD Palm Oil.
