Coal India rises on planning to set up plants for coal gasification

Coal India is currently trading at Rs. 271.50, up by 0.30 points or 0.11% from its previous closing of Rs. 271.20 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs. 273.00 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 273.30 and Rs. 269.00 respectively. So far 48278 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs. 10 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 316.55 on 27-Feb-2018 and a 52 week low of Rs. 234.00 on 11-Aug-2017.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 281.05 and Rs. 268.60 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 168344.94 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 78.55%, while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 17.97% and 3.49% respectively.

Coal India (CIL) is planning to set up plants for coal gasification and its further processing into downstream chemicals, with an aim to promote environment-friendly uses of coal.

In this direction, CIL has formed a Joint Venture (JV) company along with Rashtriya Chemicals & Fertilizers (RCF), GAIL (India) and FCIL, namely; Talcher Fertilizers to set up a coal based Ammonia-Urea plant at Talcher, Odisha, through surface coal gasification route.

CIL is the world’s largest coal mining company. It also produces non-coking coal and coking coal of various grades for diverse applications.
