BJP’s Parliamentary Board steps in to resolve Karnataka’s political crisis

The BJP’s highest decision making body - Parliamentary Board has stepped in to resolve the political crisis in the state of Karnataka caused by resignation of the nine ministers from the BS Yeddyurappa camp demanding the replacement of current Chief Minister D.V. Sadananda Gowda. Although, the ministers have taken their resignation back and have agreed to accept the decision taken by the Parliamentary Board.

“The BJP Parliamentary Board will take a decision on the current crisis and whatever decision is taken will be binding on us,” Karnataka BJP chief KS Eshwarappa said. As per few media reports, Gowda will continue as chief minister at least till the Presidential Elections which are scheduled on July 19, 2012.

Following the promise to take “appropriate action” by the party high command the nine cabinet ministers have taken back their resignation. PWD minister CM Udasi, Jagadish Shettar, V Sommanna, Basavaraj Bommai, Murugesh Nirani, Revu Naik Belamagi, MP Renukacharya, Umesh Katti and Raju Gowda were the ministers who had put down their papers. “There was a trust deficit between the ministers and the chief minister in the last 3-4 months. We had been pressuring the chief minister to convene the BJP legislature party meeting that also did not happen,” Udasi said. Also many issues raised by the MLAs were not addressed by the chief minister.
