Indian rupee strengthened against the US dollar on Thursday on fresh selling of the American currency by exporters and banks. Investors are eyeing the Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) monetary policy meeting outcome later in the day. Further, gains in domestic equity markets too supported the rupee. On the global front, the dollar inched up against the yen as stocks bounced back from a sell-off triggered by an escalating US-China trade dispute.
The partially convertible currency is currently trading at 65.04, stronger by 10 paise from its previous close of 65.14 on Wednesday. The currency touched a high and low of 65.0500 and 64.9800 respectively. The Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) reference rate for the dollar stood at 65.02 and for Euro stood at 79.79 on April 04, 2018. While the RBI’s reference rate for the Yen stood at 61.00, the reference rate for the Great Britain Pound (GBP) stood at 91.49.
