Meanwhile, Japanese stocks rose after Wall Street bounced back from a sell-off triggered by an escalating US-China trade spat. The markets in Taiwan, China and Hong Kong are closed for public holidays.
Nikkei 225 rose 371.91 points or 1.74% to 21,691.46, KOSPI Index gained 36.9 points or 1.53% to 2,444.96, Jakarta Composite added 28.32 points or 0.46% to 6,185.42, FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI spurt 17.69 points or 0.97% to 1,833.63, and Straits Times up by 61.09 points or 1.83% to 3,400.79.
