Deepak Fertilisers puts $350 million Australia project on hold: Report

04 Jul 2012 Evaluate

Due to environmental, technical and economic issues, Deepak Fertilisers and Petrochemicals Corporation has reportedly halted its planned $350 million ammonium nitrate manufacturing project in Australia.

The said project did not get past the planning stage as it faced local opposition on worries over possible harm to nearby cuttlefish populations. Right now, the company is looking for another plant site in Australia.

Earlier in March 2011, the Pune-based chemicals maker announced that it would invest about $350 million to set up a technical ammonium nitrate (TAN) manufacturing unit in Australia.

Deepak Fertilisers & Petrochemicals has over two decades of rich experience and expertise in the field of gas-based ammonia to nitric acid to AN solution / LDAN. It is the market leader in LDAN in India.
