Indian rupee strengthened against the US dollar on Monday on account of fresh selling of the American currency by banks and exporters. Besides, a firm domestic equity market and the dollar’s weakness against other global currencies supported the rupee. On the global front, the dollar steadied on Monday, having retreated late last week due to concerns over US-China trade tensions and following data that showed the US economy created the fewest jobs in six months in March.
The partially convertible currency is currently trading at 64.90, stronger by 7 paise from its previous close of 64.97 on Friday. The currency touched a high and low of 64.9075 and 64.8450 respectively. The Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) reference rate for the dollar stood at 64.98 and for Euro stood at 79.51 on April 06, 2018.
