KSPCB orders closure of Graphite India’s industrial operations in Bangalore

The Karnataka State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB) has ordered closure of industrial operations in the Graphite India's plant in Bangalore till further orders, alleging non-compliance with the provisions of the Air (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1981. The company has complied with the closure order.

Besides, the company being aggrieved by the alleged non compliance and the consequent closure order is exploring all available legal options.

Graphite India (GIL) is engaged in manufacturing of graphite electrodes. GIL set up its first facility at Durgapur in east India in 1967. Besides graphite electrodes, the company also manufactures anodes, other miscellaneous carbon and graphite products and calcined petroleum coke.
