Gujarat NRE Coke subsidiary to hike production

24 May 2011 Evaluate

Gujarat NRE Coke‘s Australian subsidiary - Gujarat NRE Coking Coal will increase production by March 2012 from the current 1.5 million tonne to 2.5 million tonne. As market valuation was not up to the expectation, the company had deferred the plan for IPO of Gujarat NRE Mineral Resources, the parent company of Gujarat NRE Coke.

To decrease the promoter holding from 92 percent to 88 percent, Gujarat NRE Mineral issued bonus shares to only minority shareholders at a ratio of 1:2. Promoters have forgone the bonus share which is a step towards listing which requires promoters to dilute their holding to 75 percent.

Gujarat NRE Coke is the largest producer of metallurgical coal, also known as met coke. It is the only Indian company which has coking coal mines in Australia.
