The World Steel Association has said that India’s output of crude steel increased by 5.6% to 8.7 million tonne (MT) in the month of April 2018, as compared to the year-ago month. It added that world crude steel production for the 64 countries reporting to World Steel Association (worldsteel) was 148.3 MT in April 2018, a 4.1% increase compared to April 2017.
Besides, China’s crude steel production registered a growth of 4.8% at 76.7 MT in April 2018, over the same month in 2017. South Korea’s steel production was 5.9 MT in April 2018, an increase of 7.1 per cent over the same month a year ago. On the other hand, Japan’s crude steel output declined 0.4% to 8.7 MT in the month under review as compared to same month in the previous year.
