ONGC gains on selling gas from three CBM blocks at $5.77-$6.12 per MMBtu

ONGC is currently trading at Rs. 165.40, up by 1.05 points or 0.64% from its previous closing of Rs. 164.35 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs. 166.00 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 166.00 and Rs. 163.55 respectively. So far 45103 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs. 5 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 212.90 on 25-Jan-2018 and a 52 week low of Rs. 155.30 on 27-Jun-2017.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 171.70 and Rs. 163.30 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 211363.38 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 67.72%, while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 18.72% and 13.57% respectively.

Oil and Natural Gas Corp (ONGC) has sold natural gas from three coal-bed methane (CBM) blocks in Jharkhand for a price ranging between $5.77 per million British thermal unit (MMBtu) to $6.12 per MMBtu.  The company sold gas from its Bokaro CBM block to a private industry, H N Roy, for $5.77 per MMBtu on a gross calorific value basis. Further, the company is to start production from the three blocks by next month with the peak volumes touching 3 million standard cubic meters per day.

State gas utility GAIL India will buy gas found below coal-seams in the North Karanpura block at $5.56 per MMBtu while private sector Positron Energy would offtake gas from Jharia CBM block at $6.12 per MMBtu.

ONGC is India’s largest government-run corporation and produces about 70% of India’s crude oil and natural gas. The corporation is the biggest public sector commercial organization in India.
